The organisations that we have worked with, already have internal audit teams, but their focus is on financial auditing and they usually utilise external auditors to undertake the financial audits.
In order to comply with the ISO standards, organisations are required to develop an internal audit capability, develop an audit plan and undertake regular audits. This requires a combination of technical and auditing skills. Using in-house auditors is key to establishing continuous improvement. They can also be used to audit investments and projects to ensure that they will deliver as expected and are being run effectively and efficiently.
We have worked with most of the NAMA Group water and power companies to establish a fully functioning internal audit team. We have also subsequently supported many companies, including the GCC Interconnection Authority, Majis and Sohar Port.
We have standard auditing processes and procedures that we have tailored to meet the companies’ specific requirements. These cover all of the key ISO standards and can be adjusted for any other ISO standards and other standard frameworks quite easily. We developed the relevant templates and the training materials. We have also developed audit programmes for several of our clients.
We produced the internal auditor role definitions and helped select internal auditors, before training and coaching them on the end-to-end process. We managed and undertook the first audits with the team and worked through the whole process with them.
Our work supported our clients’ to achieve their ISO standard certifications and established processes for continuous improvement of their capabilities.
We have supported strategic business planning across utilities, transport and a number of other infrastructure sectors, largely in the UK and Middle East.
